I think this will have the biggest impact when units with personal shields are attacking a base with a shield. In FAF the best tactic is to run a few units under the shield and kill the generator to take the shield down (which is an awesome bit of game design btw). If these units health pools are composed of 50% or 60% shield then they are going to be paper after this shield interaction and probably die before the shield gen goes down.
E.G think 3 obsidians attacking a small sera base with a shield and not much else to defend it, they either spend about 3 minutes killing the 11000 hit point shield or walk inside it and 2 shot the generator. If they walk inside it with this sort of shield interaction they’d lose 4500 hp of their combined 8250 HP just to kill the generator faster, when a unit like an Ilshavoh wouldn’t loose any of it’s HP doing the same thing.
